The retreat was held in May. Six teams received a ziplock bag which contained directions, a picture of their section, and the appropriate puzzle pieces. The teams had to assemble their section and bring it to a central table. Each team then had to arrange their sections in the whole puzzle. It was a great exercise in teamwork, communication, and understanding how each department relies upon each other to be successful.
The ETSD group loved the activity. They have picked a location to display the finished puzzle as a reminder to the importance of teamwork. I am in the process of creating a backer board for the puzzle.
I saved a copy of the file before modifying the design. I removed the puzzle pieces and kept just the outline. I exported the outline as a .jpeg image. I'm about to import the .jpeg into Aspire to create an exact toolpath for the ShopBot router to cut. I've been working with my supervisor and a volunteer to determine the best way to adhere the puzzle to the wood. I'm repurposing a piece of particle board which has been covered in a veneer. I see sandpaper in my future.... :) Check back for more updates as I finish this project.

Our Employment Training and Services Department (ETSD) has a yearly retreat. The retreat features a variety of activities including team building. One of my coworkers approached the lab to create a giant puzzle of an actual totem pole.
